From Brazil

Fazenda Riacho das Varas

Fazenda Riacho das Varas located in the Brazil’s rugged mountainous state of Minas Gerais was found in 1975 by Yoshimatsu family. The Matas de Minas region wasn’t recognized as suitable for coffee production back then, but through hard work and dedication the family proved that it was more than possible to grow coffee. When they succeeded, the greater Brazil coffee community realized the area’s potential for high-quality coffee growing, and other farmers flocked to the region.

Today, Ricardo Hirofumi Yoshimatsu (2nd generation owner) takes sustainable production methods, and quality seriously. Coffee is harvested manually to select for only the most mature beans, the trees are planted with wider spacing to receive more sunlight, only treated water is used for washed process, and drying is done meticulously and carefully. Together, these factors favor the production of the highest quality, full-bodied coffees great aroma and flavors.

This year we are bringing you Yellow Catuai coffee with Natural processing. This Catuai was developed by the Instituto Agronomico (IAC) of Sao Paulo State in Campinas, Brazil by crossing Mundo Novo and Caturra varieties.
