From Nicaragua

The Mierisch Family

The Mierisch farm estates are run by 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation coffee producers. Dr. Erwin R. Mierisch, 3rd generation producer, along with his wife, and their children took responsibility for this legacy in the early 1990s after the Nicaraguan Civil War of the 1980s subsided and decided to shift the focus from commercial quality coffee to the world of Specialty Coffee. The family propelled their coffee, and put Nicaraguan coffee into the international spotlight through their involvement in organizing, judging, and participating in the Cup of Excellence program since the early 2000’s. The family owns 11 farm estates in Nicaragua, and 3 in Hondura across 10+ varietals including award winning Javanica. They invest in environmental sustainability practices and have Rainforest Alliance and UTZ certifications.

This year we are pleased to bring you Javanica from their top Cup of Excellence winning estate – Limoncillo. This coffee has earned the 2nd place in Cup of Excellence competition.
